What we have done

What we have done

  • Structure

Semantic HTML with landmarks, so screen readers can move between the header, navigation, main content and footer.

  • Keyboard

Links, buttons and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard, and a visible focus outline shows where you are.

  • Skip link

A "Skip to content" link lets keyboard users jump past the navigation.

  • Forms

Every field has a label, and form status messages are announced to screen readers.

  • Contrast

Text and controls use sufficient color contrast.

  • Images

Images that carry meaning have alt text.

  • Motion

The Pause motion button at the foot of every page stops the moving 3D and backgrounds, and the site remembers your choice. If you turn on reduced motion in your device settings, animation and 3D motion pause or settle.

  • 3D scenes

The decorative 3D scenes are hidden from assistive technology, so they do not get in the way.

  • Zoom

Zoom is not blocked, so you can enlarge the page as much as you need.

How we tested

How we tested

We checked the site in two ways:

  • automated checks with axe-core
  • manual keyboard testing at desktop and phone sizes

Automated tools find many issues but not all of them, so we also tested by hand.

Known limitations

The 3D scenes on the site are decorative and need WebGL to display. If your browser or device does not support WebGL, or it is turned off, you will not see them.

All of the content on the site is fully available without the 3D scenes.

Tell us about a problem

If something on the site is hard to use, or you find a barrier we have missed, please tell us.

It helps to include:

  • the address of the page
  • what you were trying to do and what happened
  • the device, browser and any assistive technology you use

When we hear from you, we will look into the problem and get back to you about what we can do.

If you need information from the site in a different way, tell us and we will work with you to provide it.
